Darley Dale Primary School, Road Safety Talks |
||
|
PCSO Radcliffe from Bakewell Safer Neighbourhood Team has today been to Darley Dale Primary School to talk to the children about Road Safety.
During the presentation we discussed the Green Cross Code, safe places to cross, hazards to consider when crossing the road, pedestrians taking priority on the footpath, road safety whilst out on your bike or scooter, escooters and the law, being a safe passenger and some road signs which might help us when we are considering road safety. The presentatins were adapted according to the childrens age.
It was a long presentation but the children engaged really well and remained focused throughout, asking lots of questions. We would like to thank Darley Dale Primary School for inviting us along to spend time with the children and hopefully help to keep them safer on the streets.
Parents of the younger children, please build on what they have learnt today, when you are out for a walk, talk to them about road safety and let them show you where it is safe to cross the road so they can gain the independence to eventually manage it on their own. Also, PCSO Radcliffe is very pleased to say all the kids have agreed they will no longer argue with their siblings in the back of the car whilst you are driving as they know this might distract you!! 👀
See attached an activity for the younger children to do with parents at home, ‘Spot the Hazards’.
