Crime prevention

We have recently seen an increase in vehicle crime, in particular tool thefts from work vans, in the Allestree and Darley area. These offences are often tempting for criminals due to poor security and high reward on the re-sale of stolen goods.

Here are some precautions you can take to keep your belongings safe: 
- Always lock doors and close windows, even when away from the vehicle for a short period.
- Don't leave valuables on show in the vehicle and never leave the keys inside.
- Remove tools and stock from vehicles over night if possible.
- Park in busy, well-lit areas where possible,
- If you have a security device such as a tracker in the vehicle, add a sticker to your vehicle to warn criminals. 
- Ensure vehicle alarms are set when unattended.
