Appeal for information after man seriously assaulted in Derby

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Derby are appealing for information from the public.

A 45-year-old man was walking along May Street in the early hours of 31 December when he was struck to the head by another man. The assault is believed to have happened shortly after 5am.

The attacker is described as around 5ft 8ins tall, and was wearing a dark-coloured coat with the hood up and had his face covered with a scarf. Following the assault, he ran off in the direction of Farm Street.

The victim was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital for further treatment. His injuries are understood to be serious, but not life-threatening or life-changing.

Anyone with information, CCTV installed in the area, or anyone who was driving nearby with dash cam footage installed is asked to contact Detective Constable Natalie Barnett quoting reference number 19*697110.
