Anti social behaviour in Wirksworth

Alert message sent 27/05/2020 14:32:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

We have been speaking to different agencies and residents over the past week about the increase of traffic using The Dale and Greenhill in Wirksworth to access the quarry and the Star Disc. We are hoping to come together and provide a long term solution to reduce the amount of traffic visiting the area. With the current restrictions that we have at present it will take a little time, so please bear with us all.
As much as the area is a beauty spot, the quarry is not a place for sunbathing and swimming, as the water is contaminated. It is also civil trespassing onto Tarmac's private land.
We are doing regular patrols in the area to advise those visiting to not go into the quarry and when leaving to be safe and as quiet as they can be.
