Glossop Town Centre Dispersal Order - 24.02.2025 - 27.02.2025

A Dispersal Order will be in place in Glossop Town Centre this week due to recent reports of ASB in and around the area.

The Section 34 order under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and will begin at 15:00 hours on the 24th February 2025 and will run until 23:59 hours on 27th February 2025. This covers the area marked on the map shown.

Dispersal orders mean that local officers have the powers to ask person(s) to leave an area, or part of an area if they are committing anti-social behaviour or if we believe they may, or are likely to, cause a nuisance to someone else.

Anybody committing an offence who refuse this order can be arrested and fined up to £2,500 and/or receive a three-month prison sentence.

The Glossop Safer Neighbourhood Team hope that there are no issues and that they can positively engage with members of our community.

A/Sgt Mike Small, of the Glossop Safer Neighbourhood policing team, said: “The dispersal order gives us additional powers to deal with anti-social behaviour proactively, so we can prevent individuals disrupting the wider community.”

“It is not about making Glossop a no-go area for all people, just those who are not behaving sensibly, causing damage and distress for other community members. We simply cannot tolerate anti-social behaviour.”

Please come and speak to us to discuss any worries, concerns or just to say hello to the team.
