Operation Sceptre Engagements

Good evening,

So this week we will be taking part in a range of activities as part of Operation Sceptre, the national fight against knife crime.

We are encouraging anyone with unwanted knives to hand them in to us this week - you may have old knives which you don't use anymore, or you may have had a knife that was legal to own privately but, under the updated Offensive Weapons Act, this is no longer the case.

Whatever the reason, hand them in to us using the amnesty bins which we will be holding at a number of places listed below. They will be safely disposed of and it could prevent them getting into the wrong hands.

If you are unable to attend one of our knife amnesty bins, please email us via our team inbox:

MNT@derbyshire.police.uk

and we can then get in contact and arrange collecting them from you at your home address in a sharps container.

PCSO Hillman has visited a number of businesses around Matlock Town Centre yesterday afternoon between15.00pm-17.00pm, to ensure that the local businesses have the most up-to-date information in relation to the legal sales of knives, and also raise the awareness around knife crime.

Friday 23rd May - 08.30am-09.30am - Tansley Park, Church Street, Tansley - Knife Amnesty Bin and Knife Crime information.

Saturday 24th May - 10.00am-12.00pm - Band Stand, Hall Leys Park, Causeway Lane, Matlock - Knife Amnesty Bin and Knife Crime information.

Sunday 25th May - 10.00am-11.00am - Hurst Farm Social Club, Hazel Grove, Matlock - Knife Amnesty Bin and Knife Crime information.

Kind regards,

PCSO 12953 Annellei Hillman.
