Ninja Swords will be illegal to own from 1 August - Law Change

Glossop SNT - Ninja Swords Law Change

Ninja swords will be illegal to own from 1 August – and throughout July there will be a national amnesty. Run by the government, the scheme is an opportunity for anyone who owns a Ninja sword to hand them in to designated police stations before the law changes.

Here in Derbyshire, you can hand these in to:

✅ St Mary’s Wharf Enquiry Office, Derby, DE1 3AB.

✅ Chesterfield Enquiry Office, Beetwell St, S40 1QP.

✅ Buxton Enquiry Office, the Silverlands, SK17 6QJ.

This is just one of the initiatives we are involved with in Derbyshire, supporting the wide range of work we do year-round to tackle knife crime and serious violence.

Tackling knife crime and serious violence is not just a matter of enforcement; and is not caused by isolated issues, it is a public health challenge, a moral imperative, and a community mission. These are national challenges with significant local consequences.

Did you buy or receive the sword before 27 March ?

The scheme offers compensation to those that are eligible for handing this in. Just ask our enquiry staff and they will guide you through the form. You can also use the surrender bin without claiming compensation if you wish.

⏲️ Please be aware that you have from 1 July until 31 July to hand these in and claim compensation.

⚖️ Once the law changes, owning the sword will be illegal and you won’t be able to take part in this scheme.
