A day tackling Anti-social behaviour

Fairfield SNT have been out patrolling this afternoon and into the evening.

This week is Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness week so across the Safer Neighbourhood teams we have been conducting high viz foot patrols of places considered to be hot spot locations for anti-social behaviour.

Today, on top of the normal patrols we have been into local  Junior Schools where we held an input surrounding crime and the lasting effect it can have on the residents in our community along with the ongoing problems it causes for businesses and other members of the public.  This was following concerns that were raised to us specifically around shop theft.  The presentation was attended by numerous year groups.  The children engaged well and asked relevant and interesting questions.  Education is a vital component of tackling ASB, giving our youngsters an insight into what ASB looks like in our communities and how they can assist in tackling it.

The Project Unity office has been open on Victoria Park Road, this afternoon between 3 – 5 pm.   This was to enable the public to call in and discuss any concerns they may want to raise about their community.

As part of the ongoing Project Unity work on Fairfield, Youth Workers are continuing to engage with young people in the area on Thursday & Friday evenings and this has been an asset when dealing with any issues concerning young people and ASB.

Anti-Social Behaviour linked to drugs, nuisance vehicles and young people are priorities in Fairfield, these have been decided in conjunction with the community after engagements found that these were the main concerns raised.  We understand ASB can have a lasting effect on the quality of people’s lives, and we will continue to work with the local authority and people who have concerns on Fairfield to tackle ASB

This is just a small proportion of what we have been doing this week alongside the daily matters of answering Emergency Calls, Arrests and Proactive Patrols.
