Local Priorities Anti-social behaviour - General Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti-social behaviour - General, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

During Anti social behaviour week, Dronfield SNT have been busy over the last week or so with an extra focus on ASB during our awareness campaign week.

Some of the activities have included school talks in some of local school around ASB and the possible impact of antisocial behaviour can have on different people in the community. Some of the schools include Dronfield Junior School Year 5, Unstone Junior School, St Andrew Primary School Year 5 and other local groups too.
Some of the other actions take by Officers has also been to issue parking infringement notices to vehicles parking in a anti-social manner or committing a parking offence of some kind. We have conducted joint parking patrols with Northeast Derbyshire Parking enforcement team especially at school pick up and drop off times.
Dronfield SNT have also conducted speed checks in some of the locations where speeding vehicles have been reported to us as a safety concern in conjunction with the ASB element as well by no respect other road users. Some of these locations include, Main Road Holmesfield, Eckington Road, Coal Aston, Green Lane Dronfield, Gosforth Lane and many others.
Officers have also conducted ASB hot spot patrols across the town and wider area in locations the community have raised concern in relation to ASB of some kind and the impact it is having one of them. Then finally we have issued a ASB warning letter to a property due to the behaviour at the address impacting on other residents that live nearby, it’s important to think about the impact actions and behaviours may have on neighbours and it`s important to consider this on a regular basis.
Finally, we have also held various crime prevention events both as a Safer Neighbourhood Team and in conjunction with NEDDC ASB team as well.
Most of the work stated is part of the team’s day to day work but its important during awareness weeks to highlight how ASB can be reported, investigated and challenged when required using the appropriate methods and with the relevant agencies involved.

Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police.

The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area.

The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour.

These include:

  • civil injunctions.
  • criminal behaviour orders.
  • public spaces protection orders.
  • community protection notices.
  • dispersal powers.
  • closure powers.

The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.derbyshire.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
