Doorstep Crime - Not sure, don't open your door...

Hello All

Recently we have had calls for service around rogue/bogus traders/callers in the area. These people have been attempting to sell items such as cleaning products from duffel bags to just starting to jet wash residents drives without permission. You may also find these people posing as the Council, Police, Health Carers, Energy Companies, and the list goes on.

If you re in any doubt, keep them out, don't answer the door or phone - unless you know you are expecting someone like a family member.

Tips on keeping yourself safe...

⛔  Check the identity of any caller. Confirm who they are by calling the company they work for - you can do this by searching via the internet, phone book or even your own billing letters - never use the number they provide.
⛔ Ask a neighbour to come around or call your safe person (a family member or trusted person).
⛔  Tell them to call back a more suitable time for you - i.e. when someone is/can be at home with you.
⛔ Keep doors and windows locked, and if you have one use the door chain when answering the door.

We have a few leaflets, window/door stickers (the "No Cold Callers" ones) if you wish to have one for your property - just pop along to one of our community catch ups or message us through here and we can post one through for you.
