SNT Updates

Hi 👋

Your local SNT have been productive in their duties. PCSO's met with the Oakwood Councillors for a meeting discussing what issues the community are facing, and what we are planning on arranging as a partnership to tackle these with plans in September already being arranged.

PCSO's responded to an incident regarding an owner of a newly purchased vehicle having suspicions that he may have bought a stolen car. After investigating and getting to the bottom of this, it turned out that the VIN number of the vehicle in the windscreen was different to what was etched into the metal underneath the drivers seat. The VIN number under the drivers seat did indeed confirm that the vehicle was stolen from London, and has since been passed back to the Metropolitan Police for their attention. Some car criminals are experts and tend to cover up a stolen vehicle very well and make thousands of pounds from doing this, so it is important for people to approach buying a car very vigilantly and carrying out all of the necessary checks before handing over their hard earned money.

With the above being said, Officers are continuing to conduct CCTV enquiries in all areas of our wards to do with car crime whether this would be stolen vehicles, or criminals targeting tools from vans for  financial gain. We've seen a drastic increase of these incidents being reported and we will continue to express the importance of ensuring residents have working CCTV cameras, well lit areas, enhanced security on their vehicles, and anything further they can do to deter offenders from making you the next victim.

Although officers have been busy with the above, we always strive to maintain our community focus and engagement. Officers attended Aspen Court Care Home for their summer fair where they met with residents and staff which resulted in an enjoyable day out for all.
