Many of you will be going away for the up coming bank holiday. Can we just take a moment to remind you about vehicle security. As you make your way to your favourite locations to spend either a couple of days or maybe just a few hours there is a tendency to pack your vehicles with everything you might need. If you do leave your vehicles to take in the sights or a walk round the cafes and shops, please be aware of vehicle security. A car visibly loaded with bags acts like a magnet to our thieves who are ever on the prowl. Make sure you have no valuables on display, keep bags locked away in the boot, consider where you are parking, is the location overlooked by people during the day such as outside shops, does the car park have CCTV. Many of the laybys and off-road parking spots in the Peak District are isolated and you will often see signs on trees which say, ‘thieves operate in the area’. They are there because we will have had a number of vehicles broken into at those locations. |
