E-scooter police crackdown |
||
Good afternoon all
More than 550 e-scooters have been seized in Derbyshire, as we see a marked reduction in injuries caused by e-scooters too.
Since the start of our new approach from last November, where officers seize an e-scooter on the first offence, we have seized 568 e-scooters.
Between January and July 2024, 19 injuries were reported due to collisions involving e-scooters. For the same period in 2025, that number has dropped to just nine.
It is illegal to ride a privately owned electric scooter (also known as an ‘e-scooter’) in public, for example on pavements, on roads or in any public parks.
Please remember: You could be fined and get penalty points on your driving licence. The scooter will also be seized by the police.
