Half Term 'Fun Bike Safety Event' - Goes ahead at Bankswood Park Hadfield on Monday 27th October

Glossop SNT - Youth Engagement/ Fun day and  🚲Bike Marking Event🚲

The Half term 'Free Bike Marking, Bike Maintenance, Fun Competition' took place today, Monday 27th October at the Pump Track in Bankswood Park, Hadfield.

This was a fantastic opportunity for the safer neighbourhood team from Hadfield (PCSO Jones of Hadfield SNT & PCSO Buller from Glossop YET) to engage with the young people who use this fantastic free facility in Hadfield. 

With 12 bikes now registered on @BikeRegister (Every Police Force in the UK uses the BikeRegister database to search for stolen & recovered bikes) Registering on BikeRegister means you could be reunited with your bike in the event of it being stolen,

It was as great to see the numbers of bikers who turned up and attended this event today despite the grey skies and damp weather - with a couple even coming as far as from Hyde to take part.

2 competitions took place this afternoon - one being the fastest speed (timed over 2 laps0 and the second was skills related judged by one of their peers.

With prizes awarded to the winners and runners up - the prizes were kindly provided by Move More Glossop and Tesco Express, Hadfield - consisting of vouchers with Hadfield SNT providing three trophies. There was also bike maintenance on offer with some drinks provided for free by Twig Coffee House, Station Rd, Hadfield.

The team would like to thank Move More Glossop and MyActive Glossop for their participation, wonderful support and their  judging/recording skils today, and who without their help this event would not have taken place.

Lastly the biggest thank you goes to all of the young people who attended and took part in today's event - everyone was a winner. Some great exercise and fresh air too during the half term holiday. 

So look out for future bike marking events in our areas and perhaps there will be  another chance for the winners to defend their trophies next year - at the same place.
