                 Hi All,   South Derbyshire Section Inspector Craig, SNT Sgt Adams and SNT were pleased to attend the attestation (before half term) of our newly appointed Mini Police 'officers'    We have 2 junior schools which take part in the Mini Police Programme in South Derbyshire. This Police engagement programme is aimed at children aged 9-11 years old (Year 5/6)and designed to give young children the opportunity to learn about their safety, their role within their community and how the police work to keep them safe. Each mini Police 'Officer' wears a uniform during the sessions and has their own Pocket note book. The programme runs the whole academic year with weekly sessions per school, at the end of the programme an awards ceremony is held.
  SNT officers attend and run each session which include inputs on:- Role of the Police, Crime, Fatal 4, Knife crime/Kinsella trust, Heritage crime, Different roles in the Police, Cyber crime, Pedestrian safety. During the year there are also visits/sessions by external agencies such as RNLI, the High Sherriff , Royal Navy as well as our in-house teamsโ Cyber Sam (Samantha Hancock), CSI, and our Ops teams โ Drone, Dogs, Armed Response and Traffic Officers which visit each school up and down the county!
