Update for our local Glossop Community |
||
|
As part of our work to address anti-social behaviour and groups of youths causing nuisance in Glossop Town Centre, we have secured civil injunctions on a number of youths, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
These injunctions were granted following hearings at a Youth Court in Derbyshire and will prevent the youths from entering certain areas and behaving in any way that causes nuisance to the local community for 6 months; however, this duration can be extended if their behaviour does not improve.
These orders were obtained through impact statements from local shops and residents, along with evidence of the youth’s poor behaviour over a significant period of time including public order offences, criminal damage and general anti-social behaviour.
These injunctions will give police officers additional powers to arrest the youths if they breach the conditions on their order.
We know that certain individuals often have a disproportionate effect on the wider community and are responsible for a high amount of anti-social behaviour, so further injunctions have been and will be applied for on anyone behaving in a manner that continuously causes nuisance to local businesses and residents.
