PC Bull and PC Lakin were awarded a Chief Commendation for their quick thinking, and outstanding bravery during a job back in January. The pair attended the Esso petrol station on Markeaton island to find a male holding a petrol pump above his head with a light lighter; knowing they could not move forward using their tasers due to the flammable situation, PC Bull and PC Lakin used tactical force through their Captor Spray and Batons. Thanks to the help of off-duty Special Constable Rehal, the male was swiftly secured into handcuffs and later charged and remanded into custody. Special Constable Rehal was also awarded with the same Chief Commendation.
PCSO Nugent was also awarded with Derbyshire Constabulary's PCSO of the year award by Chief Constable Rachel Swann. Her Line manager, PSCO Supervisor Matthew Thurman nominated her for this award stating that "Ellie personifies that role of a PCSO. She engages well with the community while staying true to the force principles. Ellie is always looking for new ways to engage with the community and break down the barriers between the police and the public. Ellie's easy going and friendly manner makes her approachable and easy to trust. To me, Ellie is the PCSO that every SNT needs."
