The old saying goes that Christmas is the season of goodwill to all. Lets not extend that goodwill to our thieves. Many of you will be busy purchasing gifts for family and friends, as you do consider taking some simple steps to reduce the chance of you becoming a victim of crime. When out shopping ensure that you keep any wallets and purses in inside secure (zipped) pockets. We do get an increase in pick pockets especially in our cities and shopping centres at this time of year. Be aware of where you are carrying any handbags or shoulder bags etc when in crowds. It is advisable to keep them in front of you across your chest as opposed to on the shoulder where they are accessible to anyone standing behind you. Consider getting a card guard for bank and store cards, these block RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) signals. They can be as simple as a plastic wallet in which a single card fits into up to a purpose built wallet which will take many cards. |
