Safer Neighbourhood News: local Priorities

Our four local priorities for the SNT Buxton town centre team from January to March 2026 are:

Why: Businesses are the of our beat area

Our Actions:

Increase visible patrols in the town centre, especially during busy weekends

Identify and challenge offenders, working with the judicial system to issue orders restricting prolific offenders

Hold regular meetings with local businesses to provide advice, reassurance, and strengthen partnerships

Burglaries

Why: Historically, burglaries rise at this time of year

Our Actions:

Increase evening and late-night patrols

Host street meets to share home security advice and gather community concerns.

Drug dealing and suspicious activity

Why: Drug dealing remains a concern raised by our community. We continue to receive intelligence about dealers coming into Buxton.

Our Actions:

Conduct targeted patrols in identified hotspots using community and information sharing

intelligence-led data

Work with partner agencies to protect the vulnerable individuals and disrupt criminal activity

Use social media and Crimestoppers to encourage community reporting and Retail

Anti-Social Behaviour

Why: While incidents have reduced, reports of nuisance behaviour persist in the town centre.

Our Actions:

Deploy officers on foot in High-volume areas

Work closely with partners, including local schools, to address issues early

Identify persistent offenders and use appropriate orders to prevent re-offending, making Buxton a safer place to live and work.
