Appeal for information launched after man is assaulted with hammer in Heanor |

We are appealing for information after a man was assaulted with a hammer in Heanor. The incident happened at the junction of Sunningdale Avenue and Roper Avenue about 7am today (Saturday 31 January). A 27-year-old man was attacked by another man and hit over the head with a hammer. The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for head injuries and a broken arm. A scene was established this morning whilst officers carried out their work but the cordon has since been removed. This was an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public. The two men involved are believed to be known to each other. Officers have been making extensive enquiries into the incident and are now asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to please come forward. Of particular interest is anyone with CCTV, Ring doorbell or dash cam footage which covers the area and has not already spoken to officers.
