Shrovetide Football 2026

Hello All

We are just days away from one of the best days of the year (well in my opinion, other than Christmas) - Pancake Day!! My favourite topping is orange and sugar! What are you having on your pancakes this year?

If it is pancake day, it only means that it is time for the annual Shrovetide Football match in Ashbourne.

We are offering the following advice…

🚗 Shrovetide 2026 – Best Places to Park (and What to Avoid!) on Shrove Tuesday 17th / Ash Wednesday 18th February 2026.

Shrovetide completely transforms Ashbourne, and normal car parks are NOT suitable on game days, because:

🚗 Roads will close unpredictably from 1:30pm to 10pm across the entire town - so please be patient if you are waiting or find an alternate route please.

🚗 The game can move fast and can sweep through car parks — your car could get damaged if parked in the play zone area.
 

 🚗 Shaw croft car park is especially affected 1:30 onwards

If you are attending the game, please use the Park & Ride at the Airfield Industrial Estate. DO NOT park anywhere in the ‘play zone’.

✅ Recommended Parking - FREE - Park & Ride – at the Airfield Industrial Estate. it is only a short ride into the Town Centre and will be running regularly throughout the day, between 10am & 10pm!
