Glossop SNT - County Lines Intensification Week
Glossop YET (Youth Engagement Team) had been invited to and has completed a ‘County Lines Input’ for Yr 8 Students at New Mills Secondary School, Church lane, New Mills this morning Monday 2nd March.
Police forces will be engaged in school visits, community engagement, and enforcement to safeguard vulnerable adults and children often exploited, coerced, or threatened by these gangs.
This is part of the week-long, coordinated action involving police forces across the UK focusing on disrupting, dismantling, and raising awareness of illegal drug supply networks. running from March 2 until March 8, 2026.
‘County lines’ is a term used to describe organised drug networks that use mobile phone lines to traffic drugs into towns and rural areas. These groups often exploit children and vulnerable adults to move drugs or money on their behalf. This exploitation can involve grooming, threats, violence, and intimidation.
🔹 What to Look Out For: Members of the public can help by being aware of signs that someone may be at risk, including: Unexplained money, gifts, or new possessions Going missing from home or school Sudden changes in behaviour or friendships Increased secrecy around phone use Unknown adults hanging around a young person A child travelling far from home unexpectedly
🔹How You Can Help: If something doesn’t feel right, please report it. Even small pieces of information can make a big difference. Call Derbyshire Police on 101 - In an emergency, always call 999 You can also report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and @fearless.org specifically designed for young people to report information on-line.
Thank you to the headteacher of the school and staff for allowing todays input .
🔸Together, we can help keep the High peak safe and protect those most at risk.
