Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) attended a road traffic collision involving two cars today, (Monday 9 March 2026).
A huge thank you to kind-hearted members of the public, (including a brilliant off-duty police constable and a wonderful off-duty paramedic), who provided initial support to the injured parties, as well as assisting with traffic management – you are a credit to our community.
Conversely, and with considerable disappointment, whilst your local officer was busy providing support to those involved, several impatient motorists hassled and yelled at him demanding to be let through the road closure despite the very obvious road safety dangers ahead.
And a male driver unbelievably elected to completely ignore the road closure, continuing to hurtle past a row a stationary vehicles and into the direct path of the collision - what were you thinking?
This astonishing behaviour is intolerable and inappropriate.
Our officers, and ambulance crews, were present to protect the public, prevent further harm, and provide first aid to those involved.
Please remember, police and ambulance crews are human too - and they deserve to return home safely to their loved ones at the end of each and every shift. |
