We’re reminding everyone—especially parents and carers—about the serious dangers of children entering abandoned or derelict buildings around the Belper area.

These sites may look like a bit of fun or adventure, but they can be extremely hazardous. Common risks include:

✅ Unstable floors and ceilings
✅ Broken glass, sharp metal, and exposed nails
✅ Asbestos and other dangerous materials
✅ Hidden drops, unlit stairwells, and unsecured edges
✅ Fire hazards or unsafe wiring
✅ People using these places for unsafe activities

Even a quick visit can lead to serious injury.

Please talk to your children about staying away from abandoned buildings, however tempting they might seem. If you see young people inside or around a dangerous location, report it so we can keep everyone safe.
