I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Speeding traffic / hazardous driving, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. 🚨 YOU SAID, WE DID – ACTION, NOT WORDS 🚨 Operation Safe Drive = Operation Success ✔️
We have heard you loud and clear. For weeks, residents have raised concerns about reckless e‑bike riding, speeding, near‑misses, and complete disregard for safety. Today, Normanton SNT turned concerns into action.
✅ During Operation Safe Drive, a proactive enforcement day organised and hosted by Normanton SNT, we delivered real results.
⚠️ THE OUTCOMES SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES ⚠️
🚲 4 illegal e‑bikes seized and removed from our streets 👮 Lots of riders stopped and strongly advised on lawful and safe use
🚗 50 vehicles stopped, uncovering serious and preventable risks: 📱 13 drivers caught using mobile phones ➡️ £100 fines and potential 6 penalty points
🚫 2 vehicles seized for NO INSURANCE ❗ 1 vehicle seized for NO DRIVING LICENCE
👶 MOST CONCERNING OF ALL Numerous vehicles were found to have inadequate or NO suitable seating for children. Let us be clear: 💔 This endangers a child’s life. 💔 In a collision, it can be fatal. There is absolutely no excuse for placing a child at such risk.
🤝 We were proud to be joined by a City Centre Police Officer specialising in e‑bikes and e‑scooters, bringing a wealth of knowledge, experience, and enforcement expertise to the operation.
🔥 This day was a roaring success — not measured by numbers alone, but by collisions prevented, lives protected, and clear messages sent.
📢 THIS IS YOUR REMINDER • Illegal e‑bikes will be seized • Mobile phones behind the wheel will be prosecuted • Children must be seated safely — every journey, every time • We WILL continue to act
👀 You told us what worried you. We listened. We acted. And we’re not stopping here.
If you see dangerous driving, reckless riding, or behaviour that puts lives at risk — report it. Your information saves lives.
