🚨 Dogs in hot weather🚨 Disappointingly we have had several incidents now involving Dogs in distress due to the hot weather and irresponsible owners. We hoped we wouldn't have to make a post like this, however the past few days have proven some need a refresh in how to care for their animals.
As the weather gets warmer, please remember to take extra care of your furry friends. Dogs are vulnerable to heatstroke and dehydration, which can be life-threatening. 🐶 Never leave your dog in a parked car – temperatures can soar rapidly and the inside of the vehicle can easily reach double the exterior temperature. "I parked in the shade" and a slightly rolled down window is not good enough. Please don't be surprised to find your window smashed by Officers if you leave a dog in the car.
Walk your dog early in the morning or late in the evening when it's cooler.💧 Watch for signs of heat exhaustion: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or vomiting. Check the floor- If the floor is too hot for you to touch with the back of your hand, is it fair to have your dog walking "bare pawed" on the tarmac? Let’s keep our pets safe and comfortable during this hot weather. If you see a dog in a dangerous situation, such as in a locked vehicle, don't hesitate to contact us via 101.
