Update - Man arrested on suspicion of murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man in the Peak District.
We were called to reports of a man’s body being found at Nine Ladies Stone Circle in Stanton Lees at 1.38pm on Monday 22 June. Emergency services attended the scene and a 26-year-old man was pronounced dead. He has not yet been formally identified but his family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
An investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death has been launched. A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. He remains in custody.
We remain keen to hear from anyone who was at the site over the weekend, as well as anyone with video footage from the summer solstice event, and dashcam footage of vehicles arriving and leaving over the weekend.
A Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) has been set up where members of the public can send us information directly via this link – https://orlo.uk/DHurd
