Glossop YET - Weekly Round up of activities by the Glossop Youth Engagement Team (5th July - 10th July)
▪️ On Sunday 5th July Glossop YET completed an Early Intervention Clinic with a young person alongside their parent at Glossop Police Station at 1.30 pm. The workshops are delivered via a PowerPoint presentation that involves some individual or group activities. ℹ️ The workshop covers eight key areas: What is a crime? - Age of Criminal Responsibility - Types of crimes (inc. hate crime and knife crime) - Punishments - Sentencing - Why is a crime committed? - Excuses - The impact of crime
▪️ On Monday 6th July the team attended New Mills Secondary School, Church Lane, New Mills after being invited to assist with their mock interview event for Year 10's from 9. 00 am until 1.20 pm.
▪️ On Wednesday morning 8th July the team were at St Andrews C of E Junior School, Hadfield Rd, Hadfield to complete 2 inputs on Anti-Social Behaviour, (ASB) and crime (making a Good Choice not Bad Choice) with both of their Year 6 student classes (ages 10-11). Later that day the team then attended Padfield Community Primary School, Rhodes St, Padfield to complete an input on Anti-Social Behaviour, (ASB) and crime (making a Good Choice not Bad Choice) with their Year 6 students (ages 10-11).
▪️ On Thursday 9th July the team attended 'Youth Matters New Mills to complete input on Misogyny and Summer Safety with 3 students who attend the Centre who are currently not in full-time education. After Lunch the team attended Simmondley Primary School, Pennine Rd, Simmondley to discuss ASB/Crime/Road Safety and Knife crime awareness with Yr 5 & 4 Students in the hall.
▪️ On Friday 10th July the team attended Thornsett Primary School, Aspenshaw Rd, Thornsett, New Mills, to complete an input on Anti-Social Behaviour, (ASB) and crime (making a Good Choice not Bad Choice) with both of their Year 6 students (ages 10-11) .
The team would like to thank all the headteachers and staff at each of the schools mentioned for accommodating our visits/inputs this week.
Well done and a big thank you also to all of the young people who engaged with YET this week - they were a credit to each of their schools.
