Derbyshire police are continuing to crack down on members of the public who choose to operate illegally ridden e-scooters in the community.
Please be reminded that if you do own such vehicles and persist to ride them on public roads, pavements and public areas, then our Officers and PCSO's will seize your e-scooter under S.165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
These vehicles operate without valid insurance, an MOT or road tax and continue to remain a danger to those who risk riding them and to the general community should an accident take place.
Police can seize any private scooter if they are being used on a public road or footpath and the rider may be liable for prosecution for traffic offences.
The message is very simple.
Please do not put yourself or others at risk and if you do own an e-scooter ensure it stays on private land.
Kind Regards,
PCSO 13156 HARTLEY
