Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

Good afternoon,
Apologies I have not blogged for nearly 2 weeks.
I held off last week because we have been testing our new website since Thursday last week and I wanted to send some good news.
This testing was finally completed yesterday, Wednesday 11/12/19, and I am pleased to say that we are now live with online applications and payments.
You now have the preferred option of completing the whole application and payment whilst online.
The postal option still exists but we do not accept cash any more. Cash through the post is fraught with danger, my staff handling cash is fraught with danger and no other modern services use cash as a form of payment.
This is a huge leap for the Firearms Licensing Department and brings us in line with modern 21st century services.
Please spread the word. Having gone live yesterday afternoon, I came to work this morning to find a shotgun grant and two renewals in our email systems. Payments were successfully achieved by the Government payment site GOV.PAY.
All fabulous and working well.
Couple items of worrying news, a house in Chesterfield was burgled last Saturday, the cabinet located and prized off the wall. The entire cabinet was stolen along with a Berretta semi-automatic shotgun and certificate.
A vehicle was broken into near Sudbury and another shotgun stolen. This was a Staffordshire certificate holder.
The Chesterfield burglary, the owner had not shot for years due to failing health, for those of you who have followed my blogs, we have had discussions re selling/disposing of firearms.
A further reminder re the 3 main police stations where firearms can be disposed for destruction and should you have any elderly relatives or friends who do not shoot but are still in possession then maybe a timely review of their situation is needed. (Buxton, Chesterfield and Derby)
Also ensure your security is up to spec. I would always recommend a decent alarm to protect your premises and make sure it is used when not at home.
Cabinets hidden and keys safe with the knowledge only of the certificate holder.

Welcome to any newcomers,
Don’t forget to vote,
Many thanks
Malc Bibbings
