Man assaulted by burglars in Whitwell

We are appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Whitwell.

A 73-year-old man was in the kitchen of his home in Welbeck Street at about 6pm on Friday 3 January when two men walked into the house through an unlocked door.

They took him to the lounge and assaulted him before taking cash from his wallet.

He has described the men as white and in their 20s. They had their faces covered.

The victim suffered facial injuries.
