Home security event to take place in Walton

Alert message sent 05/02/2020 13:52:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

Residents are invited to a home security event set to take place in Walton later this month.

The event will give people a chance to speak to local Safer Neighbourhood officers about any concerns or issues, and pick up advice on crime prevention.

There will also be a chance to find out more about setting up or being part of a Neighbourhood Watch scheme, and residents can also sign up to Derbyshire Alert.

PCSO Jayne Priestley, of the Walton and West Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “In recent months there have been a number of burglaries and thefts in the area, and while patrols are underway and arrests have been made, many residents have told us they would be interested in being part of a Neighbourhood Watch to help us to better prevent crime and strengthen links with other community members and the police.

“It is also an opportunity for us to listen to any concerns people may have, and there will be a chance for residents to express their interest in a home security visit.”

PCSO Priestley added: “Although the event has been set up in Walton, other residents from the Chesterfield area are welcome to attend. We look forward to meeting lots of new faces and working with the community to help prevent crime in the longer term.”

The event will take place on Thursday 27 February, between 7pm and 9pm, at Walton Evangelical Church on Moorland View Road. People can drop in between those times, with no need to make a prior appointment.

For more information, you can contact the Walton and West Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team on any of the following non emergency methods. The team is also a part of a local Safer Neighbourhood Facebook page where you can follow the work of our officers; you can like and follow the team here:
