Beat sweep launches today to target community concerns in Hurst Farm

Alert message sent 17/02/2020 10:08:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

Our officers in Matlock are launching a ‘beat sweep’ today (Monday 17 February) as they work with partnership agencies in the Hurst Farm area.

The initiative will take place over the next five days and with the main focus on targeting anti-social behaviour, crime and giving residents the chance to get to know their local Safer Neighbourhood policing team and partner organisations.

Working alongside Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, Derbyshire Dales District Council, Platform Housing and Matlock Town Council, our officers will be taking part in a number of events to chat to residents about any concerns.

The first will take place tomorrow (Tuesday 18 February) between 10am and 3pm at Hurst Farm Social Club, and our team will be joined by Derbyshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyl Dhindsa.

There will be a multi-agency walkabout and drop in session on Wednesday 19 February and today’s activities will see our police cadets join officers to deliver leaflets to homes in the area around protecting their homes and valuables from crime.

Skips are also being placed around the area tomorrow and Wednesday to give people the opportunity to clear out their homes and gardens.

PCSO Supervisor Karl Millward, for the Safer Neighbourhood policing teams in the Derbyshire Dales, said: “Over the next few weeks officers on the Matlock Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team will be working alongside representatives from agencies and organisations to help us find out about community concerns and issues, and to target any concerns around anti-social behaviour or crime.

“We will also be looking to strengthen ties with local residents, and encouraging people to sign up to Derbyshire Alert which is a free community messaging tool which we can use to keep in touch by sending out alerts about crime, scams and prevention initiatives, but which also allows residents to feedback their thoughts and concerns to us.”

If you would like to speak to your local policing team about any concerns or issues, you can get in touch with the Matlock Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team using any of the following non-emergency contact methods:  To follow our Safer Neighbourhood policing teams in the Matlock area, and updates on their work, take a look at and like their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/MatlockSNT.
