Two men have been sentenced for their part in an attack where a man was beaten and threatened with a gun.

Gareth Fox has been jailed for five years and seven months for causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Edward Gaunt was sentenced to 16 months for inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Shortly after midnight on October 4 2019, a 39-year-old man was at his home in Fairfield Road, Buxton, when he heard a knock at the door and someone calling out to him. He recognised the voice as that of Fox and answered the door.

Fox and Gaunt entered the house.

The victim then had an imitation firearm pointed at him and a kettle of hot water poured over his legs. He was repeatedly punched, hit with a piece of wood and slashed across the back. He suffered serious injuries.

Fox and Gaunt then left.

Fox (41) of Macclesfield Road, Buxton and Gaunt (27) of Fairfield Road, Buxton both pleaded guilty. They were sentenced on Tuesday 14 April.
