Murder investigation launched after the body of a man was found in Shirebrook

At around 10am on Sunday, 26 January a man’s body was found in an allotment off of Prospect Drive.

We arrived at the scene to find a man deceased. A post mortem examination of the body took place this afternoon.

The man suffered injuries that would suggest that he had been assaulted. A formal identification has not yet taken place and enquiries are ongoing to identify the man’s family. 

Detective Inspector Chris Marriott who is the Senior Investigating Officer said: “We are appealing to anyone that may have heard any noise or disturbance between 10.30pm on Saturday, 25 January and 10.30am on Sunday, 26 January around the Prospect Drive area to contact us.

“We would also like anyone who lives in the area that might have CCTV or dash cam footage to contact us.”
