Man arrested for drugs offences after car is stopped in New Mills

A man has been arrested for drugs offences after our officers stopped a car in New Mills.

At around 11.45am yesterday, Wednesday 13 May, a Honda Civic was pulled over by officers on patrol on Mellor, and they carried out a search.

A search was carried out and what is believed to be a quantity of Heroin was discovered.

The 20 year old, from Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs, affray and driving offences. He was questioned by officers and was released on police bail while inquiries continue.

Inspector Dave Parker, who is in charge of policing in the High Peak, said: “Despite the current circumstances we live in with the Covid-19 pandemic, we continue to work hard to target drug misuse in the High Peak area and keep our communities safe.
