Van struck by would be thieves in Melbourne

Alert message sent 04/12/2019 14:42:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

We are trying to trace a vehicle involved in an attempted robbery in Melbourne this morning.

A businessman was driving along Moira Street shortly after 7am when two vehicles collided with his van.

A young man got out of one of the vehicles, a blue Ford Mondeo, and approached the victim’s van. The victim managed to drive away.

The young man, thought to be in his mid to late-teens, then ran off. We believe the would-be thieves may have wanted to take the stock inside the van and we are treating this as an attempted robbery.

The Mondeo which hit the front of the van was abandoned at the scene and has been recovered. We are trying to identify the vehicle which struck the back of the victim’s van.

We want to hear from witnesses, or anyone who was driving in the area at the time who has dash cam footage.
