Appeal after shop worker is assaulted trying to prevent a theft in South Derbyshire

One of our officers in South Derbyshire has released an image of two men he would like to speak to after a shop worker in Overseal was assaulted whilst preventing a theft.

The incident happened at around 9.15pm on Sunday, 26 January at the Co-op store on Burton Road, when a shop worker at the store tried to prevent a man leaving the store with a basket full of goods that he hadn’t paid for. When he approached the man he was punched in the face.
