Cash stolen from pensioner in McDonalds

Alert message sent 29/01/2020 08:13:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

A man has been charged with theft after he allegedly took money from a pensioner’s wallet.

Just before Christmas, we issued a picture of a man we wanted to speak to about the incident, which is said to have happened at about 7.30pm on Thursday 19 December.

A 73-year-old man told us he was in the St Peter’s Street branch of McDonalds having a meal when he was approached by a man who picked his wallet up from the table and took cash from inside.

Several people contacted us with information and we have now charged a 39-year-old man, of no fixed abode, with theft.

He is due to appear before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 11 February.

We would like to thank everyone who came forward with information.
